Welcome to Tango on Iceland
30. August - 2. September 2012

Invited teachers for Tango on Iceland 2012 are:
Diego Riemer & Maria Belén Giachello (read more)
Mette Munk Andresen & Martin Nymann Pedersen (read more)
Bryndís Halldórsdóttir & Hany Hadaya (read more)
Guest DJ is Birger Haugdal from Bergen

We are very much looking forward to enjoying the guidance of these excellent teachers again. Following their success as teachers and performers at Tango on Iceland 2011 we decided to invite them immediately again.

The main venues for the festival are Iðnó, the beautifully renovated cultural house by the lake in the centre of Reykjavik and Kramhúsið, a very cosy dance studio close by. The first event of the festival is however at the concert hall of Iceland Academy of the Arts at Sölvhólsgata 13, where Hany Hadaya opens the festival with an interesting and entertaining lecture on The history of tango, with a little focus on Europe. How did tango set foot in Europe? Why do the Finns have their own version of tango? Why are there so many very skilled tango dancers in Turkey? The lecture will be in english.

The festival opening milonga is at Kramhúsið Thursday 21.30 - 01.
Afternoon milongas are Friday, Saturday and Sunday in a friendly room with a beautiful view on the 2nd floor of Iðnó.
Workshops are at Kramhúsið and Iðnó in the afternoon of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In the evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will dance at Iðnó into the last nights of summer. The festival closes Sunday night at 22 at Iðnó.
